MIA Men’s Chorus (Men In Action) had their first overseas exchange trip when they participated in the Dawani Female Chorus Exchange in Manila, Philippines from 1 – 4 February 2018.
MIA Ladies Chorus was invited as the guest performer of the Treble Voices Festival 2018 in Singapore which was held at the School of the Arts concert hall (SOTA).
Textile and Fashion Design students, Chia Shiou Hui won the Best Creative Designer Award and Zoe Chang Sook Yee won the Potential Designer Award in the Zhengzhou International Fashion Costume Design Competition held from 6 – 10 September 2018 at Zhengzhou, China.
Textile and Fashion Design students, Foo Wei Jun and Cherlyn Lee Wan Xin, were selected as the top 10 finalists for the Sakura Collection & Japan Expo Malaysia Asia Student Awards in Malaysia and Singapore held at Pavilion KL on 29 July 2018. Two students were awarded consolation prizes in this competition.
Illustration student, Ling Ya Xuan’s work was selected as the 1st runner-up. She won RM300 and a certificate. This was an art related competition and inspired by the movie “Ferdinand” organized by Quill City Mall from 1 December 2017 – 1 January 2018.
Ling Ya Xuan from Illustration Department was selected as one of the participants for the young entrepreneurship programme incubated at National Art Gallery from March – June 2018. The programme aimed to produce young art entrepreneurs who are viable and competitive in both local and international arts industry.
