Scholarships

Yayasan Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng Scholarship

The Yayasan Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng Scholarship (TSLSC) is a new scholarship scheme funded by IOI Foundation. This scholarship is created to reward talented and high-achievers in terms of academic / creative achievements who are enrolling into selected Degree and Diploma programme at Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA). With this scholarship, students will be able to pursue their studies and dreams in the creative arts and contribute forward to society

The minimum requirements for the scholarship are as follows:

  • Scholarship Criteria
    • Open to:
      • Malaysians only.
      • New applicants for Year 2 Degree programme at MIA. Applicant must be enrolled in Semester 3 at MIA during the application.
      • Current Semester 2 applicants for Diploma in Interior Design and Graphic Design at MIA. Applicant must be enrolled in Semester 2 at MIA during the application.
    • Applicant must:
      • Applicant must possess outstanding co-curricular achievements and leadership qualities.
      • Scholarship recipients may/will undergo internship at IOI Group during their studies at selected locations in Malaysia.
      • Applicant must not be receiving any form of scholarships from other organizations and be free of any future employment obligations.
      • Those currently pursuing Foundation studies are not eligible to apply.
      • For Degree:
        • Pass STPM with minimum 2 Grade C including a pass in SPM English; or
        • Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with minimum 5 Grade B including a pass in English; or
        • Pass A-Level with minimum 2 Grade C; or
        • Pass Diploma (Level 4, MQF) in relevant recognized field or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.00; or
        • Pass Matriculation / Foundation or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.00; or Other qualification recognized by the government of Malaysia; AND
        • Pass Malaysian University English Test (MUET) with at least Band 1; and
        • Obtain Credit in English 1119 or any English qualification recognized by BCU; and
        • Submit Portfolio. For applicants with Diploma qualification, please submit your final year Diploma Project Portfolio (to be saved in CD in pdf format, file size less than 5MB. Email is also acceptable).
      • For Diploma :
        • SPM with minimum 3 credits in any subjects and passes in Bahasa Malaysia and Sejarah; or
        • UEC with minimum 3 Grade B in any subjects; or
        • O-Level with minimum 3 Grade C in any subjects; or
        • Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian government; AND
        • Submit two (2) A4 size drawings (personal choice of media, technique and subject matter).

Nationwide Art & Design Scholarship

Full Scholarships and Half Scholarships are awarded through “MIA Nationwide Art & Design” competition. This competition is usually organized from March to July/August.

The minimum requirements for the scholarship are as follows:

  • Malaysian Citizen.
  • Applicants must be the Full Scholarship or Half Scholarship Winners in the MIA Nationwide Art & Design Competition.
  • Scholarship recipients must meet the entry requirements of MIA failing which the scholarship will be nullified.
  • Applicants must have gained admission to MIA within the validity period of the scholarship.

    Dong Jiao Zong Scholarship / United Chinese School Commitee Association of Malaysia Scholarship

    The minimum requirements for the scholarship are as follows:

  • Malaysian Citizen.
  • Applicants must possess good result in UEC or equivalent qualifications.
  • Applicants must be active in sports and extra-curricular activities.
  • Scholarship recipients must meet the entry requirements of MIA.
  • Applicants must have gained admission to MIA.

  • Malaysian Citizen.
  • Scholarship recipients must meet the entry requirements of MIA.
  • Applicant must be below 26 years of age as at 1st January of the application year.
  • Applicant must possess good results in SPM/ A-Level/STPM/UEC or equivalent qualifications.
  • Active in sports and extra-curricular activities
  • Applicants must not be bonded to or in receipt of any financial aid or awards from other education institutions or any other parties.
  • Applicants must have gained admission to MIA.

    The Star Education Fund

    The minimum requirements for the scholarship are as follows:

  • Malaysian citizens not more than 25 years of age.
  • Excel in extra-curricular activities or active in sports.
  • Not bonded to or in receipt of any financial aid or awards from other educational institutions or organisations.
  • Possess reasonably good result in SPM / UEC or equivalent (for Foundation / Diploma courses).
  • Possess reasonably good results in STPM / UEC or equivalent (for Degree courses).

    Academic Achievement Scholarship (Diploma)

    The minimum requirements for the scholarship are as follows;

  • Malaysian Students
  • High academic achievement (s).
  • Scholarship recipients must meet the entry requirements of MIA.
  • Applicants must not be bonded to or in receipt of any financial aid or awards from other education institutions or any other parties.
  • Applicants must have gained admission to MIA.
  • Applicants who apply for Academic Achievement Scholarship and / or Sibling Incentive are required to submit the Admission Form together with the Scholarship & Incentive Application Form downloadable from the Admissions Section.
  • The scholarship would be offered to SPM / GCE O Level / UEC holders who have achieved the following minimum academic performance in their examination:
    • UEC / SPM / GCE O Level
    • a) For January 2022 Intake only:
    • b) For May 2022 Intake and onwards:

    Remarks: For UEC, A1=1 pt, A2=2 pts, B3=3 pts, B4=4 pts, B5=5 pts, B6=6 pts.

  • Scholarship recipients are required to obtain semester GPA of at least 3.0 and above at the end of the semester for continuation of scholarship.
  • Sibling incentive – 10% tuition fee waiver of entire programme for all siblings.
    **First sibling must have graduated from MIA

    -The scholarship / incentive covers ONLY tuition fee deduction in subjects for the first time (first attempt), NOT for ‘repeat’ subjects.

    Academic Achievement Scholarship (Degree)

    The minimum requirements for the scholarship are as follows;

  • Malaysian Students
  • High academic achievement (s).
  • Scholarship recipients must meet the entry requirements of MIA.
  • Applicants must not be bonded to or in receipt of any financial aid or awards from other education institutions or any other parties.
  • Applicants must have gained admission to MIA.
  • Applicants who apply for Academic Achievement Scholarship and / or Sibling Incentive are required to submit the Admission Form together with the Scholarship & Incentive Application Form downloadable from the Admissions Section.
  • The scholarship would be offered to those who have achieved the following minimum academic performance in their examination for the entry into degree programme:
    • UEC / STPM / GCE A-Level

    Remarks: For UEC, A1=1 pt, A2=2 pts, B3=3 pts, B4=4 pts, B5=5 pts, B6=6 pts.

    • ATAR> 95: 75% tuition fee waiver for the duration of programme
    • ATAR> 85 – 94: 50% tuition fee waiver for the duration of programme
    • ATAR> 80 – 84: 40% tuition fee waiver for Year 1 only
    • ATAR> 75 – 79: 25% tuition fee waiver for Year 1 only
    • Academic Results (Applicable to applicants who completed Foundation from other institutions and entering Year 1)
    • CGPA: 3.75 – 4.00 – 75%tuition fee waiver for Year 1 only
    • CGPA: 3.50 – 3.74 – 50%tuition fee waiver for Year 1 only
    • CGPA: 3.30 – 3.49 – 25%tuition fee waiver for Year 1 only
    • Academic Results (Applicable to applicants who completed Diploma from other institutions and entering Year 2)
    • CGPA: 3.75 – 4.00 – 75% tuition fee waiver for Year 2 only
    • CGPA: 3.50 – 3.74 – 50% tuition fee waiver for Year 2 only
    • CGPA: 3.30 – 3.49 – 25% tuition fee waiver for Year 2 only

    Sibling incentive – 10% tuition fee waiver of entire programme for all siblings.
    **First sibling must have graduated from MIA

    • High Achievers Scholarship (offered to MIA students only)
    • CGPA:3.50 – Maximum 100% tuition fee waiver for one year 2 & 3
    • CGPA: 3.21 – 3.50 – Maximum 60% tuition fee waiver for one year 2 & 3
    • CGPA: 3.01 – 3.20 – Maximum 40% tuition fee waiver for one year 2 & 3
    • CGPA: 2.81 – 3.00 – Maximum 30% tuition fee waiver for one year 2 & 3
    • CGPA: 2.51 – 2.80 – Maximum 40% tuition fee waiver for one year 2 only

    The scholarship / incentive covers ONLY tuition fee deduction in subjects for the first time (first attempt), NOT for ‘repeat’ subjects.

    General criteria for the scholarship are as follows:

  • Open to Malaysians only.
  • Open for current Interior Design and Interior Architecture Design courses at MIA.
  • Applicant must be enrolled from Semester Two to Five at MIA during the application.
  • Applicant must obtain a CGPA 3.50 and above in his / her academic performance.
  • Applicant must have actively participated in co-curriculum activities and contributed to MIA or external events / CSR project.
  • Applicant must have participated or won any Art and Design Competition / Award.
  • Applicant must possess fine student attributes.
  • If the applicant has obtained any scholarship / bursary / loan from other organisation, he / she is deemed not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

    Muda Holdings Berhad Creative Excellence Scholarship

    General criteria for the scholarship are as follows:

  • Open to Malaysians only.
  • Open to all current diploma students with the exception of Diploma and Degree in Interior Design (Can-I Academic Excellence Scholarship available).
  • Applicant must be enrolled from Semester Two to Five at MIA during the application.
  • Applicant must obtain a CGPA 3.50 and above in his / her academic performance.
  • Applicant must have actively participated in co-curriculum activities and contributed to MIA events.
  • Applicant must have participated or won any Art and Design or Music Competition representing MIA.
  • Applicant must possess a good attitude.
  • Applicant who has obtained any scholarship / bursary / loan from other organisation, he / she is eligible to apply for this scholarship.
  • The student can reapply for the progressing academic year.

    Financial Aids / Loans
    Types Financial Aids:

    Endowment Bursary Fund

    General criteria for the financial aids are as follows:

  • This bursary is open to Malaysians only.
  • The applicant must maintain at least a CGPA of 2.00 and above in his / her academic performance, active in co-curriculum activities, having good conduct and comes from needy family.
  • The applicant who has obtained any scholarship / bursary or loan from other sources is not eligible to apply for this bursary, with the exception of PTPTN loan.

    Sibling Incentive

    Applicants who apply for Sibling Incentive are required to submit the Admission Form together with the Scholarship & Incentive Application Form downloadable from the Admissions Section.

    General criteria for the financial aids are as follows:

  • 10% tuition fee waiver of entire programme for all siblings.
  • First sibling must have graduated from MIA.
