2019 – Stail.My – STAILISH Room Design 2019

4 Illustration students, Lai Pui Kuan, Leong Sok Yeng, Lo Yen Yen and Tan Bee Shan were selected to design a cubicle measuring 8ft x 8ft per room size based on the theme of “The Underwater” with RM6000 sponsored by the organizer, Stail.My. in June 2019 at Pavilion Shopping Arcade.

2019 – Aspects of Taiwan’s Humanities Camp Programme, National Pingtung University (NPTU), Taiwan

Two Illustration students, Jenny Chan Sek Hee and Tan Bee Shan, were selected to participate in the 2019 Aspects of Taiwan’s Humanities Camp Programme at the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, NPTU from 9th – 18th July 2019.

2019 – Maybank MyTiger Values Art Competition and Exhibition 2019

Illustration student, Yap Tze Xue, won the 3rd prize and received the prize money of RM2,000 in the category of Sequential Art – Single Panel to 8 Panel Editorial Cartoon / Comics (Conventional / Print / Digital) organized by Maybank Foundation on 29th July 2019.

2019 – One Day Design Challenge by ROCA

On 6 July, 13 students participated in a One Day Design Challenge, an event organized by ROCA held at the Plenary Hall Foyer, KL Convention Centre. Two of the graduates, Ng Yee Lun and Saw Wai Xiang, won the Second Prize and walked away with a cash prize of RM4000, trophy and certificate.

2019 – The Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod National Choir Competition 2019

MIA Ladies Chorus won the Gold Award in the Open Category and the Silver Award was won by the MIA Men’s Chorus in the same Category on 22nd June 2019.

2019 – Dream Factory Talent Competition

Music student, Ng Yoki, was the Champion at the Dream Factory Talent Competition on 24th March 2019.

Lantern Painting and Decoration Contest 2019

Illustration students, Thein Shi Chiun won 2nd Prize and Nur Alia Bt Iskandar won 3rd Prize in the “Adopt a Lantern Drawing Contest” organized and held by Setapak Central from 23rd August – 13th September 2019.

2019 – The Choral Festival of Korea

MIA Mixed Voices Choir was invited to perform at ‘The Choral Festival of Korea’ which was organised by The National Chorus of Korea in August 2019.

2019 – Visual Arts Workshop for Fulbright Malaysia – American Commission on Education Exchange (Theme: Saya Malaysia / Kita Malaysia Partnership)

Four Illustration students (Puan Qiao Wern, Lai Ming Qin, Toh Wan Lin & Tee Kai Hang) contributed and conducted 4 workshops for 120 secondary school students on 3rd August 2019. This was a collaborative programme from Fulbright Malaysia and MACEE, jointly sponsored by the Malaysian Ministry of Education & US Embassy.
