Explore Ikebana, the Art of Japanese Flower Arranging. This course provides a brief history of and an introduction to the fundamental concepts, theories, and practice of the artificial arrangement of flowers in Japanese style. The course is designed as a hands-on training of basic Ikebana techniques and arrangement patterns developed by one of the oldest and yet the most innovative schools of Ikebana-Ohara School. Discover the unique world of the Japanese art, Ikebana.
In this course you will learn the four patterns of Rising Form (Tateru-katachi) and four patterns of Inclining Form (Katamukera-katachi) of Ikebana arrangements of Ohara School style. You will understand the relationship between the materials; the style of the arrangements; the size, shape, texture, volume, and colour of the container; and the place and occasion for its display. Learn to create dimensional compositions and stunning arrangements form minimum number of flowers and brunches.
About the Instructor:
Reiko Takao is a member of the Ohara School of Ikebana Tokyo Chapter and qualified instructor under Ohara School of Ikebana. She is experienced in conducting private and group teaching lessons for Ikebana in Japan and Kuala Lumpur. She is also actively involved in ikebana demonstrations for Japanese Morning held by Ikebana International KL Chapter over the years and has demonstrated at the Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival held by KPJ Damansara hospital in year 2018. She has also participated in Ikebana exhibitions at Ohara School Tokyo Chapter and Ikebana International KL Chapter, etc.
