Textile design plays an important role in the fashion industry. In this course, you will learn the main elements of textile design, understand the knowledge of textile design, function and communication in artistic as well as commercial context. You will discover the usage of common terms, design principles and colour study in textile design.  By the end of the course, you will be able to apply design on functional textile design in practical and art context. Discover different ways of finding inspiration and understand the usage and function of colours, according to desired thematic message.

About the Instructor:

Tan Yong Tiong graduated from MIA with a Diploma in Textile and Fashion Design in 2000. He is the founder of Laguna Sydney which was launched in Sydney Australia in 2015. He has over 20 years of working experiences in the fashion retail industry. Besides designing for commercial, he has been tutoring and lecturing at MIA for Textile and Fashion design subjects since year 2011 till now.
